Shiba Inu, currently the 13th largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has revealed plans to launch a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). This new initiative aims to give the Shiba Inu community more control over the project's future direction. Lucie, the pseudonymous marketing lead for Shiba Inu, announced on August 25 via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the DAO would allow SHIB holders to vote on future proposals and actively participate in decision-making processes.
Lucie explained that this move towards decentralized governance will make Shiba Inu a significant player in the crypto space. “Shib is gearing up to be a significant force in decentralized governance with its DAO launch. This shift will give every holder, regardless of their stake size, a voice in the community’s future,” she stated. The introduction of the DAO is seen as a way to involve SHIB holders directly, ensuring that all voices within the community are heard and considered.
The DAO will be governed by two main councils: the “Charity Council” and the “Culture & Heritage Council.” These councils will focus on different aspects of the community’s interests. The Charity Council will oversee charitable outreach efforts, while the Culture & Heritage Council will work on preserving the unique culture associated with the Shiba Inu community. This dual council system is designed to ensure that the project remains aligned with the values and priorities of its community members.
In addition to SHIB, other tokens in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, like BONE and LEASH, will play key roles in the DAO's governance. BONE holders will focus on initiatives related to education and innovation, while LEASH holders will concentrate on proposals promoting inclusivity and transparency. This multi-token approach allows for a more comprehensive governance model that addresses various community interests.
The launch of the DAO is part of a broader strategy to enhance the Shiba Inu ecosystem’s functionality. Earlier in March, the SHIB team announced that ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange (DEX) linked to the Shiba Inu ecosystem, had migrated to the project’s proprietary Shibarium blockchain. This migration is expected to boost the platform's speed, security, and efficiency, making it more appealing to users and developers.
Despite these developments, SHIB's price has remained relatively stable, trading at around $0.00001514. This represents a 14% increase over the past week, but the price is still down 82.4% from its all-time high of $0.00008616, reached in October 2021, according to CoinGecko data.
The Shiba Inu team believes that the DAO will create a strong foundation for decentralized governance, empowering the community to have a more active role in the project’s future. This initiative is expected to foster continued growth and innovation within the Shiba Inu ecosystem as it evolves in the dynamic cryptocurrency market.
